Batik on canvas
about 2'3" wide
I like to make stuff. Even when I was small, I liked to make stuff. Mom was short sighted and only said, "You're making a mess!" So I got a degree in Agriculture. But pretty soon, I was making stuff again.

I really believe art should not just be for walls, so I like to make wearable art for people and for people's horses. Quilts for the bed, and the sofa, because keeping warm is in your heart too. Sometimes three dimensional art, and occasionally toys need making. A very important part of the work I do is for Piecemakers Quilt Guild, helping to make quilts that we give to people in the community who need something special to hold and keep.
I make batiks using the traditional hot wax. I am inspired by other art, especially folk art from all over the world and through time. I like the traditional quilting patterns and use ideas from those in both my batik and my quilts. There are always new ways to use traditional patterns and new ideas inspired by them.

In 2007 I decided to expand my horizons and pick a new technique or product each month. It sounds fun, but it was really hard! Now I am concentrating on saddle pads, which is what I like most. The equipment is in place and I have the expertise to do it well.

You can contact me by email or making a comment on my blog. All addresses are up top. Phone calls are usually futile, especially if you want to find out how I made fake chocolate for Carl's Biscotti. You can try: (408)425-1582 I'm really bad at checking messages and am subconsiously drawn to dead zones.
