This shirts are brand new-never worn, embellished with a collage of fabric; new, hand dyed, overdyed, repro and vintage. Some of the shirts are discharge dyed for a faded look. There is a lot of hand stitching, but only for decoration. Everything is attached to the shirt by machine using teeny tiny stitches, so it is there to stay. Fiberfill was used to give more texture. They all Machine wash/Tumble dry. The raw edge applique is very secure but may undergo more unraveling during washing. Just clip the threads about 1/4 inch from the shirt. A unique, one-of-a-kind vest inspired by the theme of the month "Foals" for the group Horsin' Around With Hoof Art. I made the vest with all new fabric and embellished it with a collage of new and vintage fabric, synthetic ribbon and yarn, glass beads and a snap. The fabrics are sewn securely by machine. I chose polyester ribbon and acrylic yarn because they are more washable than wool or silk. I used raw edge applique because I like the look of frayed edges, it shows the influence of my Primitive friends. All the fabrics have been prewashed, and then the finished vest was washed again. Some of the frayed threads will need a bit of trimming with scissors after the next wash. My Grandmother always said "Never pull a thread." The little golden points were inspired by shadbelly coats. Denim on the outside, the inside is lined with polyester in the back and cotton ticking in the front. Machine wash, Tumble dry.
